Abstract

Abstract: This study examines public attitudes toward the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria. The analysis identifies key correlations between pro- and anti-euro positions and respondents’ views on Bulgaria’s membership in the EU and NATO, as well as on initiatives such as referendums and protests. The data show that support for the euro aligns with a stable Euro-Atlantic orientation, while skepticism is often accompanied by a desire to distance from these alliances and support protest actions. The institutional communication campaign is perceived as delayed and ineffective, with media and social networks playing a dominant role in information dissemination. The study highlights the importance of timely, accessible, and concrete communication from the state to address the trust deficit and counteract disinformation on the topic.
