Абстракт

Although short-term service learning trips have received bad press for the possibility of damaging economies around the world, hurting relationships and partnerships, and promoting personal glorification, the truth is the opposite of these findings. They actually have been determined to be impactful for the people who participate in them and have made a difference in the lives of those whom are served. They have also been proven to increase the resources and support for marginalized people from around the world. The benefits of short term service learning trips for young American high school and college students include the creation and growth of global citizens who care about the world around them, the development of partnerships where resources are shared, and a deeper understanding of how to listen and respect other cultures. The economic, sociological, and psychological perspectives of short-term service learning trips will be discussed and analyzed.
