The study outlines the characteristics of „learning cities“ (including the only „learning“ city in Bulgaria - Plovdiv) and their role in expanding learning opportunities for adults in order to improve the quality of their lives and community life. Recommendations are generated for the development of the idea of learning cities in Bulgaria. The views of the students of the Faculty of Pedagogy, studying the discipline „Andragogy“, about the obligatory elements of the structure of the „learning town“ and the activities carried out in it are analyzed and summarized. The possibilities offered for the professional realization of the students of the specialty „Informal education“ have been examined.
