VISION AND ADAPTATION. PROBLEM AREAS OF LIBRARYDEVELOPMENT.

Abstract

The proposed text summarizes the main trends in the Bulgarian library sector, observed in the last few years, in terms of general management, implementation of marketing and PR, planning, accountability, measurement of efficiency and quality, information literacy, and
professional development of the librarian. t is based on the practice of regional libraries in the country, the National Library, the Sofia City Library, as well as some typical public libraries in small settlements. The text is divided into four problem areas. The directions of development are outlined, the main problems and the ways to overcome them are highlighted. The achievements and possible future solutions are shown.
