Abstract

This study analyzes parents’ attitudes towards the educational integration of children of Roma and non-Roma origin, focusing on socio-economic factors, cultural differences, and interpersonal relationships. Applying a qualitative methodological approach, including interviews and analysis through Atlas.ti, the study identifies key areas for improvement in the educational system. The results emphasize the need for enhanced cultural sensitivity, teacher training in cultural competence, and the promotion of inclusion. Based on the data, the research proposes developing strategies to support cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue to ensure better educational integration and respect for all students.

    Kaloyan Damyanov is a Chief Assist. Professor at the Department of Special Education, Fac-
    ulty of Educational Studies and the Arts at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Bulgaria.
    He serves as the National Coordinator for Bulgaria at the European Agency for Special Needs
    and Inclusive Education.
    His research interests focus on inclusive education, multicultural environments, and social
    work. He has published over 30 publications in these areas and has authored three monographs
    independently.
