The process of identity formation

Abstract

The changes in the social context that affect the process of identity formation are discussed in the study. The main characteristics of processing styles for constructing, maintaining and reconstructing of identity are explored. The results of research involved 155 students conducted with Bersonsky’s Identity Style Inventory are presented. Relations between the styles of identity, autonomy and commitment are revealed in the context of pedagogical conditions for self-determination and successful social functioning.
