Research into the development of intercultural competence in 9th and 10th grades in Sofia and Plovdiv

The article presents a study on the development of the intercultural competence of students from intensive language learning classes of 9th and 10th grades in Sofia and Plovdiv. The article views the constructivist tradition in education, the principles of contemporary language learning, intercultural competence, the Cooperative Learning method and the post–method state of contemporary science. The article presents the Intercultural inventory for students from intensive English language learning classes, which has been designed for the purposes of the study. The results of its application are analysed. Conclusions are drawn on the applicability of the teaching module offered.
