фонологични и морфологични критерии за класификацията на вокалните асимилации

Вокалната хармония и метафонията са два процеса на уподобяване на гласни, коренно различни по своето естество. По-конкретно, смята се, че хармонията представлява пренос на диференциални признаци от гласна в силна позиция към гласни в слаба позиция, докато метафонията предполага точно обратния тип пренос: от слаб към силен елемент. Тази опозиция „силен/слаб“ би могла да бъде дефинирана на базата на фонологични, морфологични или психолингвистични критерии: ударен/неударен, корен/афикс, маркиран/немаркиран, начален/неначален и т.н. Анализирайки различни случаи на вокални асимилации в над 50 езика, говорени в различни краища на света, настоящата студия си поставя за цел да открои и други съществени разлики между двете явления.
