Applaying of mediation in work with children and youngsters

Abstract

Disputes and conflicts are inherent in the work with children and young people at school and social services, which is why the conflict resolution competencies are important for teachers, social workers, educators. One established method for resolving disputes and conflicts is mediation and in this study I will focus on some specifics in its applying in educational environment. The peculiarities of the school environment and social services for children and youngsters suggest a different context in the understanding and application of mediation, which features will be the subject of analysis, based on literature, as well as practical experience. One of the main goals is to outline some key mediation competencies for which purpose a survey was conducted among teachers and social educators.
