Dragomir Draganov’s article examines the emergence and development of Spanish fascism during 1931–1936. The author analyses the social and political conditions that facilitated the rise of the movement, its ideology and structure, and the influence of Italian and German fascist models on Spain. The study explores the radicalisation of the right-wing opposition following the establishment of the Second Republic, the role of the army and the Catholic Church, and the formation of the Falange organisation. Draganov emphasises the national specificity of Spanish fascism, formed as a synthesis of traditional conservatism, monarchism, and new authoritarian trends. The article concludes with an analysis of the crisis of the republican institutions and the circumstances that led to the military coup of 1936.
