Abstract

The paper aims to analyze the key communicative aspects of the political poster in socialist Bulgaria (1944-1989). The main focus falls on its content and form. As one of the main and most influential visual propaganda forms the effectiveness of the political poster is also studied using qualitative content analysis. Through comparative analysis, the main features and themes of the political poster in Bulgaria during the socialist period are analyzed about its elder brother – the Soviet poster. In addition, several examples of American propaganda posters are analyzed comparing them with their Soviet counterparts.
