Prof. Georgi Naumov, D.Sc. (1933 – 2025) was a distinguished Bulgarian historian and long-time faculty member at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.” He graduated in History in 1961, defended his PhD dissertation in 1968, and obtained the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences in 1980. From 1982 to 1990 he headed the Department of History of the Bulgarian Communist Party and served as Dean of the Faculty of History between 1984 and 1987. His research was primarily devoted to the political history of Bulgaria in the interwar period. Among his most notable works are The Workers’ Party in Bulgaria (1927 – 1939) and Aleksandar Tsankov and Andrey Lyapchev in Politics and State Governance. He was awarded the Order of “Cyril and Methodius,” Second Class, and the Jubilee Medal “100 Years Sofia University (1888 – 1988).”
