The Chronicle of Manasses, Bulgarian TranslationAbstract
The second part of the study "The Bulgarian Short Chronicle" is dedicated to the issues of its dating, sources, and significance. An analysis of two chronological reports has made it possible to establish that it was composed in 1360–1361. The translated Byzantine chronicles of John Zonaras, George the Monk, and Symeon Logothete, as well as some Bulgarian annalistic works, served as the main sources for its compilation. This chronicle follows the model of Byzantine chronicles; however, the Bulgarian reports and the original perspective on certain events make it a remarkable example of 14th-century Bulgarian historiography.
