The author has outlined a critical analysis of the main taxonomies of the theoretical constructions in culturology. Against the background of this analysis one is trying to develop from a transcendental viewpoint a typology which is more comprehensive than the existing taxonomies. The typology is based on the following parameters: a) the logical structure of the theory; b) the dominant procedure in the process of theory constructing; c) the ontological status of culture; and d) the temporal dimension of theoretization. 32 types of culture theories are differentiated.
