Political life in Ireland at the Beginning of the XXth Century

The Irish national question turned into one of the most important questions in the English colonial and imperial policy in the ninetieth and the beginning of the twentieth century. The aspiration of Irish people for gaining some kind of independence underlies in its very basis. Every subject acting on the Irish nationalist stage pursues one way or another exactly this aim. The difference between them is in the ways and the means through which they envisage and believe to achieve this goal.
The current study is focused on the profile and the nature of those Irish nationalist organizations from the end of the ninetieth and the beginning of the twentieth century, which can be briefly characterized as OLD and NEW. The Irish national party remains the key nationalist player in these years. But its monopolistic positions are threatened by the emerging wave of organizations of a new type, closely connected with the activities of the young generation Irish nationalist leaders.
